The Bullrunners continue their journey South, peeling out of Vineyard 49 on Long Island and headed for Atlantic City.

Unsurprisingly, Claus in the TechArt Cayenne arrives in 1st place, having caught the early ferry. Behind him, Bullrunners jostle for position, attempting to beat traffic, stay ahead of the law and head in the right direction. Yeah, the whole 'Head South' thing can get confusing.

Meanwhile, Team Texas' Richard Rawlings and Dennis Collins have been tearing across the country and, at around 5am East Coast time, they make a triumphant phone call to Jay Riecke to call in their $50,000 bet. Their transcontinental time? A ridiculously-fast 31:59.

Morning in Atlantic City means bleary eyes and sore heads all round (boy, those blue rinse old ladies in A.C. sure know how to party...) as everyone heads for a checkpoint at Bullrun National Park. Alas, Team Lotus and Team CEC both fall prey to the cops and Team Riecke 2 just can't seem to find the right road.

A quick pit stop and the cavalcade heads for Staunton, VA. This small town ain't seen nothing like this before and all the locals pack the streets to welcome Bullrun to town. They're rewarded by Mardi Gras beads, thongs & t-shirts thrown from the top of a Hummer and a night of partying they're likely to remember for years to come.

Bullrun Rally 2007 Episode 4 of 10

We're reckoning that the driver of this Z06 has had better days. Snapped on the back of a low-loader, no doubt on its way to an automotive funeral parlor somewhere, there's something rather sad about seeing such a great car in such a sorry state.

We're thinking a spin was involved, given the amount of damage to so many areas of the car. But whatever happened, seems the cockpit's intact, which bodes well for the driver.

Shame we can't say the same for the car. R.I.P. Z06. You will be missed. AutoSpies

Viper vs. Vette

05.08.2008

Torque.tv has been busy putting two American muscle cars through their paces. They brought drifter extraordinaire Sam Hubinette to Willow Springs Raceway, just outside of Los Angeles, CA, and put the two beasts head-to-head.

The 2008 Dodge Viper SRT-10 sports an 8.4-liter V10 making 600 horsepower and 560 lb-ft of torque.
The 2008 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 boasts a 7.0-liter V8 putting out 505 horsepower and 470 lb-ft of torque.

Hubinette might race for Dodge but when it comes to going head-to-head, there's no favoritism allowed. Click Play for one hell of a horsepower party.

H2H Ep1 Viper Vs. Z06 Vette

With fine weather in Germany, the Chevy engineers have had the Corvette ZR1 out on the track again. Doing hot laps at the Nürburgring, there's every chance they're going for a new record, no doubt with a photo of the GT-R pinned to the dash so they know what they're aiming for.

Nissan's new supercar recently posted a blistering 7:29 lap through the German forest, so it's no surprise that the 642hp $100,000 'Vette is trying to go one better.

No doubt there will be press releases when, and if, they succeed. Let's hope they post some video of their attempts! BridgeToGantry

The boys over at Insideline.com have gotten hold of some spy video that is definitely worth a look. The 2009 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 running very fast laps at the Nürburgring.

Production on the new 600+HP ZR1 is slated for this summer with the new supercar showing up in showrooms by the end of the year. Start saving. Video

The guys over at "Road & Track" have obviously been 'working' really hard...Must be tough to spend the day with Nissan's all-new 2009 GT-R.

According to them, the Corvette ZO6 has something to worry about and the Porsche 911 needs to re-think it's pricing, given this car's performance bang for the buck. The Test

Number Two reveal for Pontiac at the NY Auto Show: the 2009 G8 GXP. The best bit about this slightly dodgily-colored 4-door is that it borrows it's motor from fellow GM stablemate, the Chevrolet Corvette.

That means it has a 6.2-liter, 361 horsepower V8 throbbing under the hood that's good for 0-60 in 4.7 seconds and will blow through the quarter mile in 13 seconds. If you're going that fast, who cares about the color? People are only going to be seeing your dust anyway...

Bullrun Rally 2008

Continental Divide
Got a few grand to spare and some extra holiday time saved up? Well then, you'll be wanting to contact those nice boys over at Bullrun HQ to try and score yourself an invitation. The 2008 Bullrun Rally - "the most glamorous road rally ever" - runs from June 20th-27th from Calgary, Canada to Phoenix, AZ.

100 cars and 200 drivers / co-pilots will spend 8 days of hard driving and partying on their way South on a route that's said to follow the Continental Divide - so think Montana, Colorado, New Mexico - but is anyone's guess until route cards are handed out each morning.

Highlights of the '08 Rally will include a spectacular start line event, closed course challenges by the Hollywood stunt team that brought you the Bullrun show on Spike TV, race track events, exclusive parties and as always an unbelievable selection of roads with some of the most stunning scenery in the USA.

Rumor has it a Veyron and 2 R8s are already signed up, so plenty of auto eye candy. No word yet on whether Paris "Jailbird" Hilton, Mario "Won Everything" Andretti or Hayden "Jumper" Christensen will provide eye candy of the human kind. More info at Bullrun

427 Friendly
For around $80K, it's hard to beat the performance to dollar ratio of the Corvette Z06. For 2008, those nice boys over at Chevy are giving us the 427 Limited Edition Z06 to commemorate the big-block 427 'Vettes of the '60s and tip their hats to the current Z06's displacement.

Possibly not the most 'stealth' paint job we've ever seen, the 427 Ltd Ed gets Crystal Red paint with custom graphics on the hood and fascia, plus some unique 427 badging. For a few bucks more than the standard Z06, the 427 pack includes a body-colored rear spoiler and door handles, unique chrome rims, a dark titanium leather cabin, plus a center armrest with one Will Cooksey's autograph on it. (Yeah, I had no idea either but he's the Corvette assembly plant manager who's retiring after 15 years).

To keep things cute, Chevy's producing 427 427s for the US, plus 78 for everyone else. Grand total: 505...same as the car's HP. Get it?
